Chapter Updates

 Rima Nasr

A Message from your Chapter President...

I am honored, humbled, and privileged to assume the role of President of NKBA TGCC. I am deeply grateful to Cyndy Qualia for her trust and her outstanding leadership and contribution to our chapter. We wish her the best in her journey. I am so inspired by the commitment and achievement of her and all past presidents and councils. I look forward to continuing their legacy and fulfill the mission of NKBA.

Looking back at the last couple years as Membership chair, it was tremendously rewarding experience, both personally and professionally. One of the key lessons I learned has been the importance of being sensitive to the needs of the members and working as a team to get things accomplished.

During the catastrophic year of 2020, we lived in a challenging and uncertain times. While we can’t predict the future, we can guarantee you could count on our support, and together we will overcome all the challenges ahead. Our thoughts are always with you and your family. Please join the efforts to continue social distancing and do our part to keep each other safe and healthy.

Registration for virtual KBIS is already open. Make sure you save the date from Feb 8,2021 through Feb. 12, 2021 and check out the agenda and what is in plan for you.

Our collective efforts make a measurable difference. We look forward to better serve our members and community hoping this year bring along health, happiness, victories, and much awaited reunions we all yearn for.

Warmest regards,

Rima Nasr
President, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter

Member Spotlight

Greg Pratt

Greg Pratt is President and Owner of Cabinetree Kitchens and Baths. We specialize in design, sales and installation of cabinets for all aspects of your home. Greg has been involved in the cabinet industry since he was a young man. He graduated with an Entrepreneurship degree from Baylor University and has been building his family cabinet business over the last 40 years. Greg still installs most of the jobs Cabinetree sells because of is his love and passion for cabinets. Cabinetree is now 3 generations of Pratts with over 80 years of experience in the cabinet industry.

What drew you to the kitchen & bath industry?
My dad, Robert Pratt and I started installing coffee bars in office buildings when I was 14. All of those office buildings going up on I-10 in the late 70’s and early 80’s, we would sell and install the cabinets in the evenings after work and school. I did not realize at the time how much I would grow to love that type of work. I found that I enjoyed working with my hands and building things out of wood. Installing cabinets is like Legos for big kids.

What do you like most about your job?
I love the creativity involved with my job. From design to completion the creative process of turning clients dreams into reality is very rewarding for them and me. To start with an empty canvas (kitchen) and build a finished product is very rewarding. I like creating that “Wow” factor for my clients.

What do you find the most challenging?
The most challenging part of my job is trying to blend the clients needs, wants and desires with their budget. It is disappointing to the client and us when we have designed a project with everything, they dreamed of only to see the price and realize that some hard decisions are going to have to be made. The line between design and price is hard sometimes.

Just for fun:
Do you have a favorite quote?
“90% of life is acting like you know what you are doing”. I have taught this to all three of my kids and they have heard it many times. Live life with confidence.

What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?
In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. Prov. 19:9 I have learned to trust God each day with all that I am and have. God is in control of my life and business and that is extremely important to me.

Three words to best describe you?
Optimism, Integrity, Diligence

What is the one thing you can’t live without?
Jesus and Donuts
